What must I do ... ?

The rich young ruler asked Jesus ... "what must I do to inherit eternal life"? (Luke 18:18-30) Jesus' answer accepts the premise that there is eternal life to inherit. Jesus speaks of keeping the law and tells the ruler to and give all he has to the poor. Compassion and generosity are fundamental to faithful and obedient discipleship. What are the things that keep us from faithfully following Jesus and are we strong enough to demonstrate compassion and generosity in our lives. In our time of wosrhip this evening Kathy Bevan challenged us to ask of ourselves the same question the rich ruler asked Jesus ...." what must I do ....? "
