6th Nov 2016 - Continue in hope
The Christian life can be a struggle at times and Christians can feel like giving up. John Wesley, the founder of Methodism once complained to his mentor that he felt he had no faith. After putting Christ at the centre of creation, the church, our identity and our relationships, Paul encourages the Colossian Christians to "continue. "
But how do we do this when faith is a struggle? Paul offers three pieces of advice. Firstly pray with an eye of the future hope, the promises of God and give thanks for them, secondly demonstrate wisdom in the way we engage with those outside the faith community and thirdly speak with grace, in a way that honours God.
